Lawrence Weston Housing

This housing project involves the construction of  57 new homes across three sites in Lawrence Weston in North Bristol. The sites were formerly occupied by defective post-war pre-cast reinforced concrete council houses which were demolished around 2012. The sites have been unoccupied since then.

The proposals have been developed for Bristol City Council’s Housing Delivery Team under the New Build Housing programme and include homes for social rent and shared ownership. The new development will provide a mixture of 1, 2, 3, & 4 bedroom houses and 1 & 2 bedroom flats.

Through working with local community group Ambition Lawrence Weston we developed the project brief to reflect the priorities of the local community. They were keen that there should be no apartment blocks with common parts. Instead there are ‘house type flats’ which have the same architectural language as the houses, making them virtually indistinguishable. They will have individual front doors accessed directly from the street, and where they are on the first floor, staircases will be within individual apartments, much the same as a private stair within a house.
